NEW TOWN KINGS – New Town Kings are a 9 piece Ska/Reggae band from Colchester. Since 2006 they have been rocking venues and festivals across the UK and Europe with their own brand of Ska, Rock-steady and Reggae. With new album “Mojo” soon to be released on Bomber Music, expect some storming new tracks as well as the old favourites when they return to the Man on the Moon, one of their favourite venues!

THE EXPOSED – Formed in 2005, The Exposed jumped straight into creating their own sound by fusing the influences of Punk, Reggae, 2Tone and Ska. Hard work and solid live performances earned them slots on the Van’s Warped tour and gigs with the likes of CockSparrer, Bouncing Souls, SLF and Anti Flag. The Cambridge show is part of a handful of dates before they return to the Warped tour in the U.S for the third time!! Be sure to catch them before they go!!

On Tuesday (10th) Histon Unplugged’s showcase performer will be Dan Wilde, a young singer-songwriter originally from Blackpool who’s really going places.

As usual Unplugged starts at 8.30, and there will also be several open mic slots available before and after Dan’s performance, which starts at 9pm.

Gamlingay Records’ 3rd acoustic night at the Crown and Cushion in Great Gransden takes place on Wendesay 4th May. Starting at 7:30 pm and goin on until Chris the landlord throws us out, it will showcase some excellent local talent.

Bring along your acoustic instrument and collar Phil and we might be able to fit you in for a small set.

The audience is usually appreciative, so don’t be afraid!

The Crown and Cushion have confirmed their next Gamlingay Records acoustic night will take place on Wednesday 4th May.

Anyone who wants to do a short set should let Phil know asap. We were over-subscribed at the April one, so get in quick…

On Tuesday 12 April at The Boot in Histon there will be an “Unplugged Unpicked”: Histon Unplugged’s guest this time is local songwriter Paul Goodwin, who will be performing and providing insights into his songs, described by Maverick magazine as of “darkness and despair articulated as few others”. As usual Unplugged starts at 8.30, and there will also be several open mic slots available

On Saturday 20th November, 6 amazing bands will go head-to-head in the 4th annual Gamlingay Records Battle of the Bands competition Grand Final at the Social Club, Waresley Rd, Gamlingay.

From 7:15 each band will have up to 25 minutes to electify an adoring audience and impress the judges with their talent. . .

The bands who are up for the challenge are (in no particular order)

6. Lemon Escapades

By the end of the evening we will know who has slaughtered their enemies to become this years masterss of the Battlefield. . .
